It is just another one of those historical patterns where 'competing'
products leapfrog each other. There were some 'political' reasons for
not using KDE (QT licence?) in the past.
My bugbear with Gnome is the redhat have customised it and whacked in
enlightenment and forgotten to write the dummies guide. I just want to
use it, not take out a degree to control it.
