Where is the deception? I make it quite clear that I am promoting
GetPaid in my signature. Having a referral URL for that same program
would hardly be regarded as deception.

True, but I don't post exclusively post to this mailing list. I don't
know about others, but I have to earn my living also dealing with
Windows. I live in a small town where Linux is barely even heard of,
not in the middle of Sydney where *nix jobs are a dime a dozen and the
pay is $50k+ a year. I would love to have an income 1/4 that rate, and
before anyone suggests moving, I not able to for a while.

I fail to see how placing advertising in a signature can be regarded as
"blatant abuse" unless the post contains nothing significant or is
unsolicited in the first place. I asked a legitimate question that I
was unable to answer myself, the fact that I left my normal signature
on for the post to this list should NOT mean I abused the internet.

Done. No further signatures will be sent to this list.

What's this? Ask nicely and then threaten to report me before I can respond? How
charming!

Have I contacted anyone on this list specifically regarding the
program? I have asked a legitimate question, one that I have not been
able to answer through my normal means, I have NOT sent email to the
list for the sole purpose of advertising GetPaid.

Just FYI, I have just emailed GetPaid in regards to using a signature
to advertise their program and I am awaiting their response. Although I
have no way of knowing, I suspect they may decide that using a
signature advert does NOT consitute spamming unless the original email
was unsolicited.
If that is the case, will I still be spamming? If you say I am, you are
inferring that my posts are unsolicited and unwanted? If that is the
case, I will promptly unsubscribe from this list.
