This is how I did the scanner reverse engineer (you also enable debugging
on the ioports, theres a whole doc on it).
But with the jazpiper, I see messages about not being able to load
dw.vxd, and assume this is the parallel port driver (although I didn't
plug the cable in to 100% confirm).
You know what a vxd is? Its usually a low level driver that wants to
run at ring 0, a nono for linux.
If you want to try yourself, to install the jazpiper software, you
have to:
- run from the CD, click the first item. This unpacks cab files and
setup. This will then fail with a message.
- you re-run wine with the setup program unpacked in the temp directory
- this fails, however, while the setup wine is still running, you
run another wine with the ****._MP file that this fails on.
- you then can run your installed jazpiper, but then when you try
to connect, the dw.vxd message comes up.
