Hi All,
A colleauge at Uni has a Sparc TG Station SDT 400 for which he has no
logins or passwords at all as it was last used 4 years ago to control
some sci instrumentation. They would like to use it again but can't get
into it. I am trying to get him a root login. They have no normal user
logins either.
Does anyone have an Linux image for a floppy that could boot this
machine?
I have had a look at the Sparc page on RedHat but can't find a mention
of such a machine which is a bit of a worry - it may not be supported.
* I can't get in via ftp as its ethernet is AUI connector.
* A Solaris 2.6 CD will boot it but just asks for country code stuff and
does not give me an option to get a root prompt. Eventually drops me to
the BIOS prompt.
* I can get to the OK> prompt for the BIOS but that does not get me near
root.
Hence if I can boot to Linux I can mount its HD and hopefully edit
/etc/passwd.
Any secret tricks to getting into these things. I have searched 2600 and
places and they have lots of stuff but only for getting root when you
already have a normal account and logged in.
