I don't want to contribute to complaining about Optus here but to make
some suggestions as to how SLUG can support its members, the general
public that might have Linux and Cable in the future and Optus as well.
1. SLUG members have a problem which needs to be resolved WITH Optus.
2. There are some SLUG members who have the knowledge and skills to make
technical suggestions to Optus as to how they can allow Linux boxen on
Optus cable and not get caught with users creating massive upstream
traffic.
3. By assisting both sides SLUG could promote an image of helping its
members and working with IT companies.
4. Helping Optus out would good on the CV's of some SLUG members ;-)
I know this is work but it needs those SLUGers who have the technical
knowledge to work out what can be done technically and those in SLUG
that can contact Optus, arrange a meeting with one of their policy
makers and IT persons and nut out a workable solution.
Can the new SLUG Committee tackle this?
