Hi, my thanks to everyone for the PPP replies, they were really helpful.
I finally got connected using netcfg, and I noticed pretty much everything
was set up except the modem init string. I'm still not sure which files
netcfg looks at, and how it knew where to find them. That is one thing that
is making me uneasy, but I'll try finding out.
Now to my new problem, I have a working RedHat 6.1 dist installed on a PII.
I have a 486 that I want to use as a gateway, with just the ppp and routing
stuff.
I was going to try an ftp install (before transplanting a CD drive), using
the PII in which I would host the RedHat CD. A previous RedHat 5.2 bootdisk
gave me the option of installing from ftp, but 6.1 did not...
I am forced to install the CD drive.
After restarting from the bootdisk, I get up to the installation part where
it asks if I want to add other devices. After selecting Done, the installer
starts loading, and after a minute, it says it has caught a signal 7, and is
exiting abnormally. Does anyone have any ideas of what could be the cause of
this?
Thanks for your time,
Alex
