Hi Michael,
Don't use telnet over the internet unless you like other people sniffing
your details and logging in as you.
Use SSH, turn telnet (and nearly everything else) off.
The timeout thing is a Redhat default configuration issue - someone who
likes Dead Hat can probably let us know where its stored if you really want
to change it.
