He shouldn't need to run routed for such a straightforward setup.

There is nothing wrong with 192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0 and
192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0 for your local subnets.
It sounds more like either routing is not enabled on the Linux PC (cat
/proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward should be 1) or the default gateways of the
PC's on each subnet aren't setup correctly...
The only other difference I can see between Jason's setup and mine is that I
have bound the addresses to the linux box on sub-interfaces.. ie,
192.168.0.1 is on eth0, and 192.168.1.1 is on eth0:1. My boxes happily
route between the interfaces. I've never tried having both IP's on the same
interface - maybe this breaks the routing?
