You'll probably find that diald is being triggered by a request, which
might be fetchmail or a DNS request. You'll have to track it down and
suppress it. But is it a big issue, I mean, isn't the machine is supposed
to stay up indefinitely so it's just one extra call at the beginning of
weeks or months of uptime?
