It's more than just a link, it's a hierarchical name space and has
nothing to do with geography. Think of this analogy: When your friend
in say Finland sends you a letter, the Finnish PO reads the address and
recognises the country and then forwards it to Australia. The Finnish
PO doesn't have a DB of all the addresses in the world. Similarly no
single database contains all the domain names of the Internet, it would
be infeasable.
