Yep, bpalogin has been packaged.
http://bpalogin.souceforge.net/ for rpms and source.
apt-get install bpalogin on woody (testing) and sid (unstable)
For potato, it is a little more difficult:
echo 'deb-src http://mirror.aarnet.edu.au/debian sid main contrib non-free' >> 
/etc/apt/sources.list
apt-get update; apt-get -b source bpalogin; dpkg -i bpalogin_whatever
