Ah, looks like a few changes with samba versions here. I have such a
file,
its mentioned in my 1st post.
In smb.conf is:
        username map = /usr/samba/lib/username.map

bash-2.04# cat username.map 
        mikel = mike
        lindax = linda

Yes that net use \\mol\linda /delete does re-authenticate and is most
useful.
