if I remove the last line, then the connection is established promptly. All of the local network works as expected. Once bigdog is connected to the ISP, then adding the default line makes everything work ok. Again, everthing works as expected. The problem only occurs when bigdog is not connected to the ISP and the default route is in place. >> > >> > When I try to ssh to bigdog, there is about a 45 second delay - but >> > only when bigdog is not connected to the net. >> > -- ------------------------------------------------------ Alan L Tyree [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.law.usyd.edu.au/~alant Tel: +61 2 4782 2670 Mobile: +61 419 638 170 Fax: +61 2 4782 7092 -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group - http://slug.org.au/ More Info: http://lists.slug.org.au/listinfo/slug
