Because it doesn't solve the problem of cycling incrementals losing newl-created and damaged files: unless you mean, snapshot into different directories each day, and recycle directories every 60 days or something. But if it's going to be connected for auto backups overnight, then it's also going to be vulnerable to power surges or whatever that take out the main drives. So separate media are more reliable in that sense. For bootable backups I plan to try out mondo recovery, to cover system stuff.
