uses librsync, so as well as rsync really.
case in point is backing up an exchange database.
you stop exchange, run rdiff-backup on it, but it changes every time.
its encrypted/compressed so it looks different everytime. makes for massive increments.
You just get an reverse diff that is the size of the change, in this case 100%. with a large firewire drive it doesn't matter, but over remote is makes a big difference.
