Hi, Prepaid SIM cards are available and should be less expensive than hotel rates iff you use little bandwidth over multiple days. There is little chance of finding free WiFi in cafes and such. OTOH, many hostels offer nice single/double rooms and typically also provide WiFi/Laundry etc.
If you stay in each country for a few days and need more than a few KB data transfer, its probably best to buy a new prepaid card in each country. The providers now start to offer Europe-wide call and data rates but they're not very cheap yet. For Germany, you can find data prepaid offers at Media Markt or Saturn, which are similar to Dick Smith in Australia. Have fun :-) /steffen -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html
