Hi Anton,
Thanks for the suggestion. i had a look at the wikipedia page, and it
seems to be a viable solution. But i'm much more familar with
administering and using SVN and CVS, so am more keen to explore options
in those two. The strong point of Git is in managing multi-branched
non-linear collaborative work. May be overkill for my use, as i don't
need to merge (i'm the only developer), i just need to migrate and
overwrite the whole repo. ;)
Thanks and Regards,
Edwin

Hi all,
Just exploring whether this makes sense...
i have some personal work, that i would like to make use of SVN to do version
control. At home i do the work on Linux, so no problem with that.
When i go on business trips, i bring along my company-issued laptop, which
unfortunately, has to run Win XP (but that may not be the main obstacle).
i would like to continue doing work on the road when there is free time, but it
still has to be version-controlled.
One option is to set my home PC as an SVN server, and just always sync to the
repo there. But i don't want to do that, because
- i may not always get internet connectivity on the road.
- the purpose of the SVN is for personal version control, rather than
collaborative work. So keeping my home PC on the whole time for this seems
overkill.
Hence, is there a way to bring the whole SVN repo with me when i go away, then
sync/copy it back when i return?
Thanks and Regards,
Edwin
