...and that's the title of an article in Strait Time's Digital Life supplement today.
The article told a story about Virtual Map, the company behind streetdirectory.com, who's in the midst of migrating its servers infrastructure from Linux to Windows Server 2008. The same company was in the news recently for copyright infringement of Singapore Land Authority's street map. The reason for the migration after 8 years of using Linux? one Eugene Lim, the director of business development, mentioned about the difficulty on finding a Mandrake sysadmin. Yes, it has to be Mandrake, coz as if any other Linux sysadmin won't fit the bill, so at the end, they ended up with a Fedora Core sysadmin, and as a result they have to migrate to Fedora Core "all because of one guy". To cut the long story short, they've somehow "decided" to turn to Microsoft for help last year to switch to Windows Server 2008. I almost choked on my lunch, laughing so hard while reading this article. I tried to search for the "Advertorial" text on top of the page as they would normally put for sponsored content, but couldn't find one. To me, it really smells like a paid job thou. I say: C'mon... Is this for real?
