I guess so, My BIOS is too simple to edit anything good. Will try latest squeaky Ubunto ready in few days from their web site. Cheers!

Yes, that would be SATA mode set to Automatic or IDE, not Native. You definitely want a recent version of any distribution, preferably _not_ something before 2007.
