From a marketing point of view this is known as "positioning" the product. It's interesting that they've turned Linux into an "Easy-to-use-OS-for-newbies". Whereas WinXP is for advanced, experienced users who know what they're doing.

I can't say that I disagree with this positioning. Linux is easy to use. WinXP is difficult to use :) It's also worth noting that the version of Linux installed on the Eee is actually exactly in line with the positioning of the product as layed out in the above marketing statement.
