Thanks for this.  My personal experience on a Fedora 9 environment
is that there was nothing else that was needed other than to go to
NetworkManager and choose the "Auto GSM network connection"
option that showed up when the USB was plugged in.

I would like to have the "SingTel" readonly desktop icon not show
up (it is a link to bunch of windows drivers).
