Hi All,

I am still in the dark ages of using Singtel broadband over the phone line,
and the occassional wirel...@sg. So for those enlightened folks on the list
who are already on Mobile broadband, I have a few questions:

- My objective is to send SMS from a linux machine and use data traffic (~
300MB/mo). I don't want an expensive subscription, pay per usage is fine.

- I don't mind paying for the hardware. Choices are USB modems (many
problems?) or Mobile Broadband routers : Having "enjoyed" poor service from
Singtel, I will not do any further business with them, so I checked M1 and
found that they have two broadband router products:

1. Huawei B970b - has a USB and some Win driver

2. "Huawei Router" with no product id :

Looks like #2 is what I want, since it is pure ethernet/wifi on the client side
and hopefully no "windows-only" crap. The subs seem pretty good too: unlimited
data, <$20 pm

If anyone has used or is using this device, I'd appreciate your opinion.

BTW, did you get rid of the wired broadband? Does it make sense?

PS: You may note that M1 has a technical error on the How It Works diagram in
that page.

Regards
Anand
