I broke one of those apart one time.. and If I rember correctly it grounded
everything except pair's 1-2,3-6... so I would think it is a bad idea...
But you would have to play with it and see... break it open and see what's
protected... or not protected...

I have a APC PNET1 inline surge protector, I was wondering if I could
place it between the Powershot adapter and the Airbridge Outdoor unit
for extra surge protection.  I plugged it up and the radio came on and
the Ethernet port both on the pc and the radio worked, but I don't want
to install it until I know for sure that there is not going to be any
issues with it. I believe it protects all 8 wires and the cutover is
like 6 Volts but Im not sure how it works really.

Any info would be helpful.
