You you using an AP in repeater mode or two APs (one in/one out)? repeater mode cuts the BW in half but 2 APs only add a slight time delay. Most of the delay is caused by an incorrectly config'd router. Use a good router or none at all. Just connect the two APs with a crossover.

It deviced by relatively half each jump you can go forever but after a few hops may only have 2k throughput :)
