I would like the ability to put in the user password and the administrator password.  The user password would be used for the queries thyat are run for monitoring.  the Administrator password would only be used where you changed a setting or goto "Manage" a device.  That way you do not have your administrator password flying around the network in snmp queries as often.

Kind Regards,

David

Subject: [smartBridges] simpleNMS 1.1 Beta

Hi All,

I am glad to inform you that we have made improvement to the smpleNMS after gathering some feedbacks and suggestions and the new version simpleNMS 1.1 Beta  Release is now available for download.   If you are existing simpleNMS users, you can use the existing simpleNMS username and password at the same link which was emailed to you. If you have misplace the link or forget the password access, you can request for the password to be send again at http://www.smartbridges.com/new/support/sendpw.php Otherwise, please submit your request for download at http://www.smartbridges.com/new/support/download_software.php?software=simpleNMS .

Please be informed that this beta release will be for approximately 3 weeks, we will take in all suggestions till 20th July,  please send your feedback to [EMAIL PROTECTED].

Features in simpleNMS 1.1 Beta  :

    • Bulk update of operational parameters of all devices

a.                  CTS/RTS threshold values

b.                  Fragmentation threshold

c.                  Preamble

    • Bulk update of operational parameters for the clients of a particular airPoint. The   parameters that will be updated are

a.                  CTS/RTS threshold values

b.                  Fragmentation threshold

c.                  Preamble

    • Bulk update of clients security settings for the clients of a particular airPoint

a.                  WEP key management – The user will select a particular airpoint, whose WEP key settings needs to be changed. The application will first update all the clients and then the airPoints WEP settings.

b.                  The user can update the client devices passwords. When he changes the device password, the corresponding entry in the simpleNMS will also get updated.

    • User information editing and viewing

So far the simpleDeploy was giving an interface to write in some user specific data. But there was no way to read it back. The simpleNMS allows you to do this. The user can write in some important information into the device like address where the client device has been setup etc.

    • Email notification on Device outage

The user provides an email address and the SMTP server to be used. An email will be sent to the provided address once a device goes down.

    • Network scanning

Till date the simpleNMS had to be in the same network to do a search for the devices. simpleNMS will now, get a starting IP address and the network mask from the user and scan the whole network. So the user can be anywhere and not necessarily in the same network.

    • Updating clients associated to repeater AP

Now you can update the clients of an aP and one of the client is in repeater mode, it prompts the user to first update the clients of the repeater before updating the main aP. This prevents the clients of the repeaters not being updated when the main aP updates its clients and thus preventing the clients of the repeater from loosing association.

Thanks and Best Regards,

Alex
