As transparent as they may appear to be - they aren't entirely!
 
Following a response from SB support, I simply powered down each end of the link and brought them back up again and everything works fine now!

No aPPO is a transparent layer 2 device.

Has anyone got any idea whether the APPO has a routing table at all, that can be changed?
