Yeah, but if you have say... 5 volts/100 foot (I know...) of cable drop, if
you stick a 24 volt power supply there you'll have just enough power to get
to the top on a 300 foot run...

Now you say don't make the length longer than 50-70 meters... well make it
to where I don't have to put them up so high to get the most distance.

50-70 meters would get you almost half way on some of my installs... and
they actuall work fine...

Now just give me a 2.4 Ghz radio that's pumping out say... 5 or 10 watts...
then I'll be happy... :D I'll be able to run the RF cable up several
hundred feet and not the radio...

Then make sure the length of the ethernet cable is longer than 50 - 70
meters so that overpowering the units might not be appropriate for the
units,

Alex the biggest reason to go with 24V is because it is a more
standard power supply. We buy the Motorola Canopy Power Shot's for
$8.00. When I went looking for 18V power supplies I couldn't find
anything under $20.00 (Most were about $40.00). I also had a heck of
a time trying to find dealers that carried the 18V with DC out put.
So you might say 24V doesn't buy me anything extra, but it sure does
save me alot of cash. And cash is the reason we are all doing this.

Thanks.........Dan
