About the laptop thing... That's very true.

But then, it could be very handy for situations where no permanent
installation is desired - like apartment buildings, or hotel rooms.

Sine SB has the technology, they could easily make it operate in 2 modes -
high and low power - 30 mw and 200 mw.  Works for me :)

As far as drivers go, all USB stuff has issues of some kind.   I have to
reboot regularly to use my scanner, but I still prefer the USB powered
scanner to the SCSI one it replaced :)
