Damn that's interesting haven't heard about that before but is something to look at.

Have you checked signal strength out at all?  I have done deployments in
situations where a vertical array of antennas was required to make the
2.4GHz link work.  During the day the temp would be 110+ and at night would
be 50 F.  This was in a desert.  Turns out the signal itself was being
warped to where the center lobe was several feet above or below the antenna.
