Also time is an issue. By the time you figure out the problem / say your
radio goes bad. You have to either climb the tower yourself. Or find
someone to do it. And the take the new radio up there swap it out...
Yada yada with my system you find the problem swap the radio and your

With that injector/amp it can loose all signal but 6 dbm. 200 ft of lmr
400 =13.2 dbm loss. 17.8 dbm coming out of radio = 6.6 dbm at the amp.
The amp then picks up the signal and re-trans at a full 30 dbm. With lmr
600 you could go 300 ft with exactly the same results. And with the
buggy nature of direct sequence / chip set the climate control box at
the bottom of the tower is an excellent way to avoid the heat!! Jason

Have you priced hardline? You can't use LMR for long runs, even short
runs, it's lossy.

7/8" miniumum for most good sized towers @ $6.00 foot for Cablewave
(cheaper than andrews most cases)

1 5/8" best bet for towers about 300ft @ 11.00 foot for cablewave...

Add up the cost, Coax over ethernet will not pay even to have a tower
guy climb the tower 10 times to fix things.

I did the math, and putting the radios at the top of the tower is the
most ideal
position. No loss, and no cost!

It would have cost upwards of $10,000 just to get hardline put on my
tower , NOT including installation of the hardline, ground straps, and
any other hardware (connectors, grounding, etc)
