Thunder storms moved through last week Thank goodness that sB has at least done away with the 50' non shielded cat 5 I had one aB Outdoor on a 50' tower that the lightning came in on the Ethernet port Also I had a aB outdoor that locked up during the same storm Both these units had the old 50' non shielded cat 5 cable I know that these enclosures are plastic but couldn't they at least metal coat these for shielding purposes Also the weather proof buglin connector is a pain, It is a real pain to take these enclosures apart after they set up for a while, the rubber grommet doesn't slide on the cat5 once it sets up We need metalized enclosures and the cat 5 jack inside the radio I won't say my 2 cents worth, Someone else's saying But, in our area this is a real problem Thanks Joe K -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Tim Harris Sent: Saturday, July 19, 2003 11:52 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [smartBridges] Sector antenna range vs omni I purchased three of the mentioned WISP 24014-90 Maxrad sectors. I am in the process of installing a simple shield on the rear of the unit. This should make them perform as well as the ISOMAX 24014 design. Yes, they only run about $119.95 each as compared to the $957.60 for the complete ISOMAX unit. I looked at the PDF on the Maxrad website and it does appear to be a difference not only in a complete mounting kit but they add isolator shields on the rear of the units. I have just added an additional inch to the outside edge of the shield at a 20* angle to focus the signal away from the other two units. If this works, Maxrad will need to lower it's prices on the ISOMAX unit. I'll let you know or if anyone has experience with these in this manner, let me know.
