The setting that could cause the device to go back to manufacturers
default has been resolved since simpleMonitor 1.51.

On another issue, when doing file transfer without any bandwidth
management, the client would clog the whole bandwidth and this is normal
behavior. The simpleMonitor which uses SNMP protocol would suffer and
the link status may show dropped to zero because no response from the
device while busy processing the data transfer. But this does not
indicate link is down.

Hope this clarify your issue.

Subject: Re: [smartBridges] New SB Firmware

Hello. Thank you. The first unit was a case where I selected
some option in simpleMonitor and saved the configuration.
This made the unit non-responsive. It had gone back to
manufacturers default IP and some other settings, but it was
beyond resuscitation. The error in the firmware or monitor prog
was confirmed by Smart Bridges. Obviously I don't want to
mention it here and have everyone killing their radios trying it
out. :-) The first unit went back a few month's ago. We have
heard nothing back about it since.

As far as the rebooting, again, I'm not certain that this is what
is happening. I had thought that the graphs dropping to zero
was an indication that the CPE was switching speeds maybe.
It's just recently occurred to me that it may be totally rebooting or
resetting itself. Again, this only seems to happen on transmitting
lots of data. She can download 100 MByte files in just fine times.
Sometimes she can upload as well, but if she is having problems
then the graph has this mountainous appearance. It goes from
92% to 0% to 92% to 0% and so on in about 2-3 second intervals.
Watching it from the Access Point side (StarOS) I can see idle
times of 2 to 5 seconds while these drop-out's in the graphs
occur. This (and the fact that the customer noticed that her WAN
light on her residential gateway was going off for a second or so
while I was seeing this graph drop-out) was how I figured that the
unit was rebooting when it was transmitting lots of data.
