Title: RE: [smartBridges] smartBridges - PoE Outdoor

The old radios were not 802.1af compliant hence the unit is made to comply with both the old radios and standard 802.3af its called legacy compliance The unit is now standard complaint (the 48v power pack is easy to come by I wonder is the polarity reversed again I doubt it just wondering) And also it is lightning protection and dual surge protected in fact a very handy device and I hope to be deploying them although the new kits (does it come with the appro's or the abtotals?) will take a few test installs to get our installers retrained.

I haven't checked pinouts yet for the new devices but pin 4 is also a -V. It
is used as a reset on the current devices but will comply with 802.3af on
the new devices which are 802.3af compliant.

Hi,

I'm a little puzzled about the way sB assigns voltage polarity to pins
of RJ-45 conncetor. The 802.3af assigns pins 4,5 for RTN, and 7,8 -V on
the RJ-45 connector whereas sB assigns pins 5 for -V and 7,8 for +V.
The sB pin assignment causes compatibility problem for us when we
install sB PoE product on the customer sites that already have PoE
Power Source Device (PSD) that truely complies with 802.3af. I'm not
sure whether sB PoE device is truely 802.3 compliant and would there be
any effort to be done to improve this situation. Your advice is
appreciated.

Thanks,
Minh
