Either install one of the website applications (allow for download
speed tests only). If you want a ptp speed tests that can do upload
and download (choice of udp and tcp) then grab the MikroTik win32
application (can be ran as a server or client and can talk with
another win32 client or a MikroTik routeros client/server).

TB> JC,

TB> What do you guys run for a local speed test? Have you
TB> created your own web app or can you point me to something pre-packaged.
TB> We have been using pcpitstop.com for a quick sanity check but as you
TB> said it has been running like crap lately. Any help is appreciated.

TB> That's why we specify in our policies that any speed test to be done is

TB> only valid if it is to OUR speedtest on OUR website. We can't control
TB> the

TB> bandwidth between us and 2Wire, or DSLReports, or whoever they want

TB> to test from this week. So we state it up front. The internet is a
TB> volatile mesh

TB> of comingled networks that are owned by a myriad of companies that have

TB> loyalties to no one. We guarantee your speed and connectivity to our
TB> network

TB> and that's it. Nobody out there will give you anything better. If they
TB> do, take it.

TB> Offer them this choice...

TB> - Cheap

TB> - Fast

TB> - Reliable

TB> Pick two.

TB> Of course a phone call at 6AM every day would drive me to the

TB> point where I would say FINE. Drive out there, test the bandwidth

TB> show them that they are getting AWESOME speed, then hand them

TB> a bill for $65 for the truck roll.

TB> Then enjoy sleeping in..
