Situation:

I have an airPoint Total Access Point at 50' pointing directly at a
location 1.5 miles away with perfect LOS. I am looking for a small
solution to be able to associate and get occasional access.

The location is an outdoor restaurant patio where I want to take my
laptop and use my internet connection. Ideally, I would just have a PC
Card, but at the distance, I doubt it would work.

Any recommendations on a card with a connector and a small unobtrusive
antenna I can put on the table? What gain antenna do you think I would
need (given the specs on the aPT on the other end)?

I know the location owner, and she would probably let me install a
permanent antenna, but it would have to be very small. This is another
option other than portable, but not the preferred solution...

As a side note, I have been using an aPPO in repeater mode sitting in my
car in the parking lot (about 50 feet from my usual table) and a plain
jane Linksys WPC54G. This "solution" must go.

Jason
