Kevin, you are right. There is a corrugated roof on a barn, but the barn is about 200 feet away from where the antenna is.
Sorry, I made a mistake. The AP is already at the max (32dBm) without using an Amp. -Csar -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Kevin Summers Sent: Tuesday, September 09, 2003 11:57 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [smartBridges] How do I improve a link? The only thing that raises a question for me is that it's on a farm. Typically somewhere on a farm there is a roof with the corrugated stuff on it. That stuff plays havoc with 2.4GHz RF and will scatter your signal everywhere. If there is a corrugated roof somewhere nearby, try and get away from it. You mentioned that your AP is using a 90 degree sector and you don't have the power turned all the way up. If you are in the US and not using an AMP to get up to 36db EIRP then you aren't at the limit yet. If you are using an AMP and you've got things on the AP side up to 36db, then go ahead and crank up the power on the client side and at least see if that gives more RSSI. I've got a client connecting at 16.5 miles with the same setup that you have mentioned, and their RSSI runs about 75%.
