An amp on the client end won't help, because the problem is a lack of signal
at the client end. You really can't use an amp to make a weak received
signal strong. Amping it merely raises the signal AND noise, leaving you
where you were before, without enough signal/noise ratio.

If I read the tea leaves right, the sensitivity for 11Mbit connections
leaves single digit signal margins, which is pretty weak.

I'm thinking you're just trying to reach too far from a relatively low-gain
sector antenna.

If you drop the client end to 1 or 2 Mbit rate, you're going to hammer
everyone else's bandwidth when this person uploads or downloads.

The slow modulation rate will consume much of the AP's time delivering data
to it.

You can try it, of course, but don't be surprised if you end up with issues
later.

Subject: [smartBridges] How do I improve a link?

Hi everyone,

I need your help/advice on improving a customer's connection. He is
10.5 miles away from my APPO (14.5 Sector antenna) and there is a clear
LOS. He is using an Outdoor airBridge and a 24dBi grid antenna. At
this point in time there are no amps involved, but I am seriously
considering to install one at the clients site.

Do you think that an Amp would solve the problem? Or do you have
something in your bag of tricks that I can use?

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

TIA,

-Csar
