Ability to get to certain websites in our experience, especially when running PPPoE, is an MTU/packet fragementation issue.

The link from the AP to the AB may be good, but
what about upload? I've got a client I'm checking
into now that can't get to "certain" web sites and
is experiencing slowness. I suspect they aren't getting
good upload speeds.

Hi Dennis,

In order to achieve better upstream and downstream link, the minimum acceptable level of RSSI is about 60 -65 %, however ideally the minimum for a good stable link should be around 75%.

With the help of our latest simplMonitor, you can define your own RSSI value. These values are calculated from the Base band values (0-40) and the maximum is 40. The values are converted 0-100 scale with formula (-10dbm) and displayed as % values. The link quality is displayed only as % but is the same conversion applies to RSSI also. The percentage value should be able to provide an indication how good the Received signal is.

(E.g. BB value 40 => 100 %; BB value 20 => 50% )

The percentage value should be able to provide an indication how good the Received signal is.

You can use the new simpleMonitor Version to define your own RSSI to dbm conversion. This way, you will have close dbm reading with the other vendor reading. We have given this option to key in the own values, but most of the time the default values works much better than the manual method.

I have heard of people saying that the RSSI in the ABOs is really not a valid method of determing a link.  What are good values to put in ?
