You need to find out the appropriate settings for your particular topology! This is not a silver bullet for all networks! This worked well in my location which has many hidden nodes, sever multipath issues, and other factors that may not be similar to your networks.
Best advice on this is to try out your own values of frag and rts/cts settings. My optimum (or as good as I care to get) values are RTS/CTS=256 and Frag=off (I believe the value 2346 stated by Kevin is correct -though I don't bother checking this anymore).
