The reason you put the ethernet on it is so you can put it inline with your radio device and have it pass the ethernet signal/power to the radio as well....

A search with google found the SMC SMCAMP-500 listed as a POE amplifier. However there were no details on the device and a search of the SMC website did not list it as one of their products.
 
And thinking about I can not see any reason to put an ethernet port on a straight amplifier. Lets see RF in, RF out, power in. Now if someone built a really fancy expensive amplifier, with snmp monitoring or remote control of a lot of extra features then they might put a ethernet port on it.

I'm not sure if your trying to be a jerk, but YOU think about it! There are verdors that have POE powered AMPs, therefor they have ethernet ports to power them.

Think about it! Does an AMP have an Ethernet port ??? Dont think so. Ya need to run 12 VDC to it. Its an RF device.

Amps can be a curse also. The repeater becomes what we call an alligator mouth. Everyone in 30 mi radius can hear it bit the AP can't hear the CPE's. So be careful with amps and I recommend RF Linx. Good price and they have filtering in both the TX and RX side.

Not entirely correct. The amp must be part of a CERTIFIED SYSTEM. A number
of manufacturers provide same--YDI and others.
