Band B is *not* available in the UK - it's down as
'nomadic' - and the RA (Ofcom now) will not elaborate on the meaning of the term
- *NO* equipment is currently in development by anyone for Band B in the UK -
They reckon the RA are reserving Band B to see how well Band C does. Band C on
the other hand is 'light license' - Â50 gets you 50 client licenses - no limit
on the number - Â50 is the basic payment tho, it's
apparantly roughly Â1/per client per year, and it can all be done via
a website (apparantly). Also, Band C is 2 Watts EIRP.

Colin.

B.
802.11g will be as much use as a chocolate teapot in the
wisp environment - we need 5ghz in band b, not band a, as we can have higher
power and there is nearly no frequency contentions with microwaves and kiddies
walkie talky monitors... We are in the UK, and whilst the rest of the
world is settling on unlicensed band c, we have to settle with licensed band c
and unlicensed band b - band a will be ok for internal office
installs.

Sorry to break the bad news to you guys at SB, but a competitor
has beaten you to the punch on the Nexus products. Yup, they're out in
the States already under the same Nexus name. Right now, there's also a
special price for getting both the shampoo and conditioner
together!
....ahhh, it's been a long week! :-)

The 5 GHz solution products (802.11a) are also in our roadmap, it will
be our next development range after the 802.11g.
Kind regards,

Hello.
Does anyone know if there is any kit available in the 5ghz Band B range
yet?
A reliable colleague tells me that this can now be used legally in the
UK -
and i NEED some.
Will SB be introducing a 5ghz product? Not sure I can wait a long time
for
them to do it? What are SB's plans of this? This can't have popped up
by
surprise?
Thanks
David
