Kevin,
curiously. I'm at a point where I need to switch everything over to PPPoE as well. I've been looking into it and I think it is possible, what I'm trying to do is make a rolling transition. Can an interface be both a PPPoE server port and maintain it's IP routing at the same time while I'm switching everyone over - and then once everyone is switch I just turn of the IP of that port?
I perhaps need to experiment a little further on this, but some words of wisdom beforehand would be much appreciated.
cheers,
Paul

Subject: RE: [smartBridges] 1.08 locking up ???We went to PPPoE on all of our clients and that eliminated 80% ofthe problems associated with DHCP. For what it's worth DHCP on ournetwork did NOT work unless you had at least 75% RSSI and 75% LQ.Anything lower than that was unreliable for DHCP.Kevin Summers

I wonder if this is the same problem I've experienced and found what the issue is (at least in my case). For some reason, if a computer is off or after DHCP lease time has expired, getting a new DHCP lease from the wireless network's router is a pain in the @ss. Usually, I either have customers reboot their computers AND airBridges or if it's too many customers I just unplug the router and replug it back in. Had the same problem this morning after exactly 24 days of continuously running without a hitch since last DHCP lease was given to 3 customers, all 3 reported problems getting online. Sure enough, their lease had expired (I've set it to 24 days which is the max) and their computers were not picking up the new lease.
I had this problem before with the airBridges, but I set all the airBridges to static IP and haven't had any issues with those. Always associated...no problems especially for airBridges connected to customer routers with static IPs on the routers, too.
What do you think? Could this be the same thing you're experiencing? I'm using Linksys routers.

Just doing 1.08 has decrease our troubles by about 70%. Going to long Preamble has decreased issues by another 15%. Burning in the config has about made our problems disappear. I DO ping all my units though. As I stated, this has become a monitoring tool, and I dare not turn it off just to "find out" if problems arise. Only calls we get now are from normal network issues (My mail won't work) or from units we have not visited to burn in the default config.. I REALLY WOULD LIKE TO DO THIS REMOTE FOR AIRBRIDGED PRODUCTS I can see SB's stance for this on AP's but not for CPE's... let the customer change their settings and burn them in.. its not like the unit has bandwidth control or something.. and even if it did, if we see a password change we will just remove its MAC from authorization! SB please reconsider!!!
