SDC is an entire cloud orchestration suite. The SmartOS platform is the same. The primary difference is all about the software on top of it. If you only have a single host that you're trying to manage, it's very likely that the overhead from the SDC services will not be worth it. It's quite a lot more than just the administrative user interface.
