Is the migration after creating and importing the new pool so simple as
For z in $(zfs list):
Zfs send | zfs recv
Just take a recursive snapshot of zones and do a recursive send.
Dredging this one up again since I’ve now got a few new spindles (more on the
way as I find them for reasonable prices). Does the following work:
(1) reboot with noimport=true
(2) zfs import zones oldzones (mounting the old pool as oldzones)
(3) zpool create zones mirror d1 d2 mirror d3 d4 […] (depending how many
mirrors I have.)
(4) zfs snapshot -r oldzones@snap
(5) ifs send -R old zones@snap | zfs receive -d zones
then shutdown box, play musical disks, reboot and all should be good to go.
I’m mostly concerned about the specifics around 4, 5, and getting back where I
should be.
It should work. Experiment - you aren't touching your old pool, so
there's nothing to loose!
