The config would be appreciated. That issues starts out as a Samba 3 issue but later branches into trying to make Samba 4 work as the release of 4.2 marks EOL for 3.6 I believe.

You don't need samba 4 and you are just asking for pain if you try and use it as a domain member. Use Samba 3 + winbindd. Samba takes care of the smb file sharing parts and winbindd pulls the uid/gid info from the DC and helps manage perms on the domain member local file system. I'll post back some of my config shortly.
