So far I've installed 10.5.6 on: 3 iMacs, 1 MacPro 1 PowerBook 1 PowerMac
No problems experienced so far. Just remember to take some simple precautions, such as: Use Disk Utility to verify your hard disk and repair permissions. If you have DiskWarrior - use that to confirm your disk is in good condition. The ultimate precaution is to make a back-up of your hard disk before doing the update. I use Time Machine. That just leaves how to do the update, the options are: 1. Restart the Mac in Safe Mode and then do the update. 2. Update using the Combo updater 3. Let Software update do it on its own. Which of these you choose might well be determined by what you use your Mac for and how well you look after your Hard Disk.
