can you advise?
just finished exporting a dvpal film (2mins) from finalcutpro, and on viewing 
in quicktime the quality is pretty bad but in VLC it looks great but there 
seems to be a framerate problem in VLC,

what's happening?!

Once your camera is connected to iPhoto via USB, neither care what
kind of storage it uses - there's no need for an interim burn to disc.
iPhoto will offer to import the pictures, then offer to delete them
for you.
