Some days ago someone wrote about those strange black lines round things pasted into emails. And then about editing problems.
I've discovered that if you drag what you want to past in to the desktop, making a clipping, you can drag it into the email and it is editable. It's also editable if you drag the clipping into a normal app for the sort of data it is (text, image etc) which of course makes it really really really editable. When the introduced OS X, my only crucial question was whether clippings were supported. They are quite wonderful. Hope this helps.
