That's odd, mine's never had a problem charging my iPad. I have recently bought 
a powered USB3 hub with a dedicated charging port though, it seems to charge 
devices much faster than a standard one.

I've also bought plug sockets for the wall with USB sockets in them, should 
make life easier!
