Threatening to be OT, but pleading 'relevant to some, and to iPodland in
general
I spend far too much time on trains surrounded by <scathing look>
'conversations', tinny headphone sound etc and I'm really getting too
old for it... I have etymotic ER4s which do a very good job of cutting
out sound; I've tried Bose noise-cancelling headphones which do nearly
as well.
What I would often like is silence, though. Or not the kind of music
that drowns it all out. I'm currently in a 'quiet' coach for instance
with a family all chatting loudly three feet away, cackling loudly. I'm
glad they're enjoying their journey but I wish they'd do it somewhere
else, frankly;)
Has anyone else also set out on a quest to turn their travel environment
into a library-like silence? I've not done better than BOSE/ER but they
leave a lot of conversation noise to come through, and often that's
precisely what I want to cut out...
